Special Friends In Need Of Homes
In the course of my travels, I have met some very exceptional friends in need of forever homes. I would like to introduce you to some of them on this page. Please consider taking them into your hearts and homes, and check back often for new additions.
A Rescued Dog's Wishes
(excerpts from a poem by Terri Onorato)
Rescue me not only with your hands, but with your heart as
well.
I will respond to you.
Rescue me not out of pity, but out of love.
I will love you back.
Rescue me not with self-righteousness, but with compassion.
I will learn what you teach.
|Rescue me not because of my past, but because of my future.
I will relax and enjoy.
Rescue me not to simply save me, but to give me a new life.
I will appreciate your gift.
Rescue me not only because of who I am, but who I will become.
I will grow and mature.
Rescue me not to revere yourself to others, but because you want me.
I will never let you down.
Rescue me not with a hidden agenda, but with a desire to teach me to trust.
I will be loyal and true.
Rescue me not to be your pet, but to be your friend.
I will give you undying love.

Bella
We are looking for a good home for our pet. Her name is Bella and she is almost 6 years old. She is affectionate, loves walks, and can be a lap dog if you want her to be. She weighs around 35 lbs. She doesn’t chew or jump on furniture. She is quiet natured. She does have food allergies to beef, and milk. She has been fed a raw food diet which seems to fit her needs and Bella loves Turkey necks which keeps her teeth and gums in good health. Bella came from Puerto Rico 2 years ago to live with us. She is a whippet/springer mix and is spayed.

Milo
This is Milo and he
needs a new home.
I have had him since he was a little older
than 9 months. Milo is an indoor cat (he has never been outside). He is a
great cat, the only problem is that he craves attention and I work 60 hours a
week. When I am around a lot he is perfect, however when my hours away increase
he tends to get himself in a bit of trouble (clawing and knocking over anything
on a counter!). He reminds of
how my families dogs acted when I was young.
Milo loves to cuddle and always wants to sit with me. I have never seen a cat
who likes people so much (once again, I think he may believe he is a dog!). I
don’t want to bring him to a shelter, I would prefer to know that he has a good
home. He gets along with other cats as well, I have another cat who is 4 that I
got 3 years ago to keep Milo company. They get along great and but my other boy
tends to like to be off on his own. Please let me know what information I can
provide you with that may help me find Milo a good home. If you can provide a
home for Milo please email marnie at Marnie MacAlpine at

Noel
“Noel” is a four year old spayed female cat who is the “queen” of her domain! She is social, runs to the window when she hears a car, lays on her back to have guests scratch her belly and loves “treat” time.

Gabby and Shadow
Gabby
is 11 or 12 and Shadow will be 13. Her mom has a cat tower, new toys, two
litter boxes, plenty of
supplies, complete vet records, and would be willing to buy enough food
and cat litter for the first month or
so.

Does your cat need a cat friend? Well I'm the one for you! I love other cats, and live to be second in command. My foster home has a tiny Devon Rex cat, and I flip on my back and sniff under her chin, just to let her know she is the boss. I love to rumble with the other foster cats - gently with the tiny babies, rough with the older kittens, and sweetly with the seniors. I am still shy with people, but all of my brothers and sisters tamed up well, so with patience, I expect to become closer to people. I was born in early May, and I am going to be a big, beautiful, exotic looking cat. Can I meet your cat?

Sierra
Manx,Siamese
Size: Medium
Age: Baby
Sex: Male
ID:
I am Sierra, born in early August - that summer sun gave me a sunny personality! I am a big greeter - perched on my foster mom's shoulder, I helped with Halloween candy! I love all kinds of people and cats. And of course, how often do you find a tail-less Manx with Peach Point Siamese markings? My Manx heritage is the reason for my challenge. Because I am tail-less, the muscles of my rectum are not yet strong. I am box trained, but I do leak a small amount of stool on occasion. My foster mom keeps me in a spacious cage with my buddy Hoshi part of the day, and she lets me wander about the house later with my diaper on. I have been teated with traditional and alternative therapies, and the combination seems to be helping. With time, I may outgrow this completely. However, my new home will have to understand this could be permanent, and be willing to care for me regardless. I am a very special boy, with great looks and a gregarious personality. Do you have the home for me?

Hoshi the Hugger
Domestic Short Hair-black Mix
Size: Medium
Age: Young
Sex: Male
ID:
Well, my name gives it all away. Hoshi is the Japanese word for star, and my black fur is sprinkled with white like a starry sky. My real talent is the purring, snuggling hugs I give. I was rescued from certain death near a busy road. I seem shy - I love to give my best Halloween cat look at first - but the moment a person touches me, I start to just melt and purr. I am probably an April baby, still young, and looking forward to snuggling up to someone this winter. Could it be you?

Bill (HAS BEEN ADOPTED! THANKS!)
Bill was born in May of 2005. He is FIV/FeLV negative, neutered, and vaccinated.

Raven
My name is Raven although you can call me the
Queen of the Nile! I am almost 2 years old looking for a permanent home to rule,
I prefer not to live with dogs and I probably shouldn't live with cats as due to
the fact that I am FeLV positive.
(please visit http://www.bright.net/~zimm1/FightingFeLV/ to learn more).
I am affectionate but don't call me a lap cat! Please provide me with a
cardboard scratching post as I do love them to BITS!!!

And I would just love a window seat, my foster
mom lives on the ground level so all I get to look out at is the darn bushes! I
want some excitement, give me a bird feeder to look at or a duck pond!

Oh please come take me to my new palace!

These kitten kids are in need of forever homes. See pictures below!
Notes: We are March babies, and absolutely the friendliest kittens you'll meet. We run to the door when our foster mom comes in, and purr, purr, purr. But we do have our challenges - our series of tests for feline leukemia (FeLV) were positive. Of cats testing consistently positive for FeLV, only about one third will show some signs of illness within 3 years. But don't take our word for it - check out http://www.bright.net/~zimm1/FightingFeLV/. Right now, we are healthy, with great appetites, lots of stamina, and robust play habits. Because of our test results, we should be in a home with a sibling, or without any other cat. We'd love for one (or more) of us to find a home with you!
Please go to the web site and fill out an online adoption form. That is the best way to get the process started as we respond to applications received as quickly as possible.
You can also call
(978)779-8287 and leave a message, but we cannot guarantee an immediate call
back. Or send us an email.
All of our cats have been
tested for FIV/FeLV, have received distemper and rabies (if old
enough)vaccinations, have been treated for worms, ticks and earmites, as
necessary, and will be spayed or neutered before adoption.

Willow (HAS BEEN ADOPTED! THANK YOU!)
Willow is a beautiful, loving, very playful 1 1/2
year old cat. Willow is
available for adoption through the Dakin Animal Shelter in Leverett, MA, and is
currently in foster care with a member of the staff. She will thrive in a
quiet, adult-only, single pet household where she will receive lots of
attention. Willow can be a very vocal cat, especially when she is getting
used
to a new environment, or is looking for attention (which is all the time!) When
she becomes comfortable with her surroundings, she is perfectly happy to jump in
a lap for some love and a nap. If you are interested in learning more about
Willow, please call the Dakin Animal Shelter at 413-548-9898 and ask for Kate.
Templeton and Patches
-- HAVE BEEN
ADOPTED!!!
THANK YOU!
Templeton and Patches are currently in
the Milton Animal Shelter (http://www.miltonanimalleague.org/)
and are in need of a forever home.
They're
five year old neutered male Toy Fox Terriers. They've bounced around a lot
through no fault of their own - their first owner was hospitalized, then they
went through a few other homes that couldn't keep them. Templeton (with the
stand-up ears) is the more outgoing of the two, and the more vocal, while
Patches (flop ears) is quieter.
They both like to sit on a lap - the
same lap if they can both squeeze in. They're bonded to each other but don't
seem to like other dogs.
We'd like to place them in a home where an adult will be around during the day because they seem to have some separation anxiety. They were gentle with a little boy at the shelter yesterday, but we wouldn't put them in a house with small kids because of their small size.
At one point, Templeton effectively took over the office by snagging the desk chair. We christened him Office Manager for a Day.
For more information on Templeton and Patches, please contact the Milton Animal Shelter at the email address above. Thank you!
